Daniel Reavis (Equipment Manager - Brookstone Golf & Country Club) is one of 3 finalists for the Most Valuable Technician award. This award is given through the GCSAA & Golf Course Magazine. The winner will be voted The Most Valuable Technician of 2015 by his peers. Please recognize Daniel for this achievement and hopefully he will win this very deserving award.

Jori Hughes
The Wilderness at Fortune Bay, Tower, Minn.

Outstanding fabrication skills, a dedication to a clean and safe work environment and a developing role as a facility leader at this resort golf course in northern Minnesota were all driving factors in Vincent Dodge, CGCS, nominating his equipment technician, Jori Hughes, for the 2015 Most Valuable Technician Award. Technically trained at a local community college, Hughes has mastered his craft during his time at The Wilderness, focusing all the while on golf course equipment maintenance and establishing himself as a crucial employee at the resort. Hughes has spun his love of building and racing stock cars into a plus for his employer, too, with exceptional fabrication skills that allow him to easily solve problems big and small for Dodge and his team. Also notable to Dodge has been the development of Hughes' interpersonal skills as a leader at the facility. "Jori works with staff members not just to make his own duties more manageable," Dodge says, "but to help others accomplish their work more efficiently, as well."

Finalist No. 2
Cory Phillips
Horseshoe Bend Country Club, Roswell, Ga.
The Golf Club of Georgia, Alpharetta, Ga.

A leader at his golf course as well as in the industry, Cory Phillips' achievements as an equipment technician were recently spotlighted when he added maintenance of the equipment at the 36-hole Golf Club of Georgia to his previous duties at 18-hole Horseshoe Bend Country Club. A lifelong learner with excellent communication skills, according to his nominating superintendent Sam Welch, Phillips serves on the Education Committee for the Georgia GCSA, helped start a local group for golf course equipment techs and also served as the chair of the Membership Committee for the International Golf Course Equipment Managers Association (IGCEMA). He embraces new technology, utilizing the SmartShop system to track all equipment maintenance and repairs at Horseshoe Bend; he fabricated a unique rack that allowed operators to carry backpack blowers with them on triplex greens mowers; and he is an organizational wizard in the shop, maintaining a cross-referenced list of after-market filters and parts that helps streamline ordering.

Daniel Reavis
Brookstone Golf & Country Club, Acworth, Ga.

It didn't take long for Daniel Reavis to make his impact on the golf operations at Brookstone, located 35 miles north of Atlanta. Since joining the club in 2012, his nominating superintendent, Joey Franco, CGCS, says, "His demeanor is very contagious and reflects his hard work and dedication to his employer and the golf industry." Educated at Florida Gateway College, Reavis has continued his learning after graduation through involvement with GCSAA, the Golf Course Equipment Managers Association (IGCEMA) and the Equipment and Engine Training Council (EETC). His shop management skills are second to none, highlighted by daily cleaning standards, sign-in/sign-out sheets for individual pieces of equipment, and color-coded sheets that assist in the tracking of equipment fluids coming in and out of the shop. He's also been an active contributor to the facility's golf course management blog, producing videos that highlight his role and the preventative maintenance practices employed for golf course equipment.
